Pomegranates and Nail Bars
I'm so damn busy right now I don't have time to see or write about anything but the purpose of this blog is to yap about stuff that is so absolutely compelling, interesting, humorous or just plain stupid that words spill off the cortex.
Last week Queens Nails Annex hosted the first in there month long set of performances @ their Mission gallery:
**Disclaimer: I may not have all the facts correct here so if I missed any details you can take it up with my Editor. ;)
The performance last week at "Queen's Nails Annex" featured a reenactment of what is termed in some circles as The Golden Dragon Massacre in 1977. (see wikipedia)

There were two rooms: In the room further back performers played a Mahjong game. A bouncer at different times denied entry to the part of the performance so we hung out in the front room.
In the front room the artist staged real manicurists dressed in yellow jumpsuits with a black racing stripe giving actual manicures. The walls and manicure tables were decorated in a similar yellow with black racing stripe motif. People were invited to sit and get a manicure while the performers in the other room played Mahjong. Everyone else talked & drank Tecate from a can. Yellow t-shirts with (I'm assuming from the title of the performance) Bruce Lee’s face on it hung off the wall on hangers.
Despite dragging our feet getting down there we arrived just in time to see the spectacle.
Initially it was like any gallery opening: calm moments of manicurist clipping, people milling around, talking and drinking in the front room. This changed at around 9:30pm when all was interrupted by the sounds of screams and gunshots in the back room followed by heavy squirts of pomegranate juice on the wall.
As the initial mayhem subsided actors bodies were dragged out to the street and deposited on the side walk leaving a slick trail of fruity gore and Mahjong tiles in their wake. The juicy-juiced corpses acted dead on the sidewalk while those in attendance surveyed the scene.
…we stayed for another beer
